Welcome To Muskegon Lighthouse
Welcome
Thank you for stopping by the Muskegon Lights website. The Muskegon South Pierhead and South Breakwater lighthouses are listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The Muskegon South Pierhead Lighthouse is open for tours during the summer while the South Breakwater Lighthouse is viewable from the exterior only.
The United States of America donated this lighthouse to the Michigan Lighthouse Conservancy in 2010 for historic preservation, education and public use through the National Historic Lighthouse Preservation Act. This program is administered by the National Park Service.
The lighthouses are in need of preservation as they have deteriorated over many years. The US Coast Guard is still in charge of the blinking lights at the tops and the fog signal, known as aids to navigation. The Muskegon South Breakwater Lighthouse is severely deteriorated and we need to raise funds now for its preservation. We are in need of donations now to help save the lights. We also volunteers interested in helping preserve the lights to give tours and perform routine maintenance on the lights. Preservation of the lights will not be an easy task, so please consider helping financially or with your personal time. There are many opportunities to help, just ask us.

Lighthouse Passport Program & Club
Participate
The Muskegon South Pierhead Light is a proud participant of the USLHS Passport Program! Purchase your passport at the lighthouse gift shop during regular hours of operation or bring your passport in to receive your stamp when stopping to climb the tower.
Passports are $15 if purchased at the lighthouse. If you can't make it while we're open, send your $4 donation ($2 each light; Pierhead and Breakwater) and a self-addressed stamped envelope with the date you visited to:
PO Box 973 Fenton, MI 48430
Once received, we will send you a pre-stamped card of one or both Muskegon South Pierhead and Breakwater Lights to paste into your passport. This is a great way to commemorate your lighthouse hunting experiences while also supporting America's lighthouse preservation!
