Overview of the Tower Tour:
Climb the 48 foot tall Muskegon South Pierhead Light and experience the unique feeling of traveling back in time. Up two spiral staircases and a shipman’s ladder, this ironclad tower built in 1903 boasts unparalleled views from the lantern room at the tower top. Knowledgeable, passionate volunteer Lighthouse keeper docents share the history of Muskegon’s lighthouses and other faces of the area’s maritime importance.

Tours are approximately 15 minutes long. No reservations are required. All guests are served on a first-come, first-served basis—whether purchasing tickets online or onsite.

Important Visitor Information:
🔹 Accessibility:
Due to its historic structure and remote location, the lighthouse is not ADA accessible. Visitors are encouraged to enjoy views via our website webcams or photo galleries if accessibility is a concern.
🔹 Service Animals:
Certified service animals are permitted around the exterior grounds only during tour hours. They are not allowed inside the lighthouse tower. Please clean up after your animal.
